Facing resistant bacteria: PROMISE in Inserm magazine

The quarterly Inserm magazine (National Institute of Health and Medical Research) highlights discoveries, debates and issues in the ever-changing field of biomedical research. Issue 65 features a profile of Marie-Cécile Ploy, coordinator of PROMISE, the One Health meta-network fighting antibiotic resistance in France.

Entitled ‘Facing resistant bacteria’, this portrait focuses on antimicrobial resistance, including antibiotics. A ‘serious threat that can affect anyone, anywhere in the world. […] A danger that French research, particularly Inserm, has been working on for several years’.

It discusses national projects focusing on antimicrobial resistance, including PROMISE, co-led by Inserm as part of the priority research programme on Antibiotic Resistance. In terms of research into new antibiotics, it mentions AntibioDeal, which is part of the meta-network and aims to structure this research.
