University degree (DU) on Antimicrobial Resistance and One Health

Antibiotic resistance is a major public health problem affecting humans, animals and the environment alike, and is responsible for 1.3 million deaths worldwide each year. Effectively tackling antibiotic resistance requires a cross-cutting One Health approach involving professionals from the fields of human, animal and environmental health.

ℹ️ About the course

As part of its remit, PROMISE launched a University Diploma (DU) on Antibiotic Resistance and the One Health approach in 2023. This DU, run by the University of Limoges with the support of the Pasteur Institute and the University of Tours is a vocational course that is 100 per cent distance-learning and asynchronous (no fixed login times), available as either initial or continuing professional development.

It is aimed at professionals in human, animal and environmental health (human and veterinary practitioners, epidemiologists, hospital managers, water managers, etc.), researchers, and professionals or students in political science.

🗒️ Course content

The University Diploma (DU) is 100 per cent online and uses on-demand content, with no need to log in at fixed times. The course comprises 30 hours of online tuition (excluding independent study), two MOOCs from the Pasteur Institute as teaching resources; 30 lecturers contribute to this University Diploma..

7 modules covering initial and continuing education must be completed:

Epidemiology and Surveillance of Antibiotic Resistance
Public health, antibiotic resistance and One Health
From data to action

The programme includes a multiple-choice questionnaire (MCQ) to assess modules 1 to 7 (7 online MCQs, each lasting 30 minutes), as well as a group written assignment submitted in the form of a dissertation to assess module 7.

🏷️ Enrolment procedures and fees

Enrolment takes place in several stages:

You must obtain authorisation to enrol by sending a letter of motivation, together with your contact details and an up-to-date CV, to the University Diploma (D.U.) coordinator (Pr. Marie-Cécile Ploy) and her secretariat (Yolanda Gonzalez Flores).
Once you have received your authorisation to enrol, you must complete the enrolment form.
Your duly completed application must be submitted along with all the required supporting documents.

The enrolment fees include: the specific course fees for the University Diploma (DU) + the University’s annual enrolment fees: see the 2026–2027 fee schedule [FR]. The fees for the 2026–2027 academic year are:

€855 for initial training (€767 if you are a student at the University of Limoges)
€1,455 for continuing education (€255 in university enrolment fees + €1,200).
