PROMISE serves to build interactions between players who usually work in silos, and enables members of the community to share their practices, expertise and knowledge, as well as coordinating their action around 9 priority objectives. Among these objectives, improving communication and awareness of antimicrobial resistance is a key challenge.
To mark World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week 2024, which runs from 18 to 24 November, PROMISE and ANEPF (France’s national association of pharmacy students) have produced 4 videos for the general public to raise awareness of antimicrobial resistance and the global One Health approach:
- Video n°1: What is antibiotic resistance? (animation – FR)
- Video n°2: Antibiotics: what are the risks of misuse? (animation – FR)
- Video n°3: The microbiota: bacteria that do us good (animation – FR)
- Video n°4: What does antibiotic resistance mean to you? (micro-trottoir – FR)
Antibiotic resistance is a major public health issue, a silent pandemic that is sweeping the world. Bacteria know no borders: they can spread between different ecosystems or between different countries. If we hope to curb the spread of resistance between humans, animals and environmental ecosystems, only a holistic One Health approach involving professionals from different sectors can make a difference.
Through these informative and educational videos, aimed primarily at the general public but also at professionals in each sector, PROMISE and ANEPF are promoting the collaborative, multidisciplinary approach initiated as part of the meta-network, based on the sharing of knowledge and expertise.
