Everyone can take action to protect their own health and that of others by making better use of antibiotics. In order to raise public awareness of the correct use of these medicines, and therefore of the fight against antibiotic resistance, Santé publique France, the French Ministry of Labour, Health, Solidarity and the Family and the French National Health Insurance (Assurance Maladie) are re-launching the ‘Antibiotics: good care starts with good use’ prevention campaign at the start of 2025.
The aim of this campaign is to point out that antibiotics are only effective in cases of bacterial disease, and that only a healthcare professional can determine whether they are necessary. In other words, they should only be taken on medical advice.
This campaign to raise awareness of the correct use of antibiotics will run until 16 February 2025. Videos, advertising spots and messages (television, radio, social networks, etc.) and posters are all part of the programme to remind people that the fight against the development of bacterial resistance and the preservation of the effectiveness of antibiotics are essential.
