The first annual AntibioDEAL days took place on March 29 and 30, 2023 in Caen in hybrid mode. The 114 face-to-face participants and the 31-videoconference participants attended 19 presentations by academic and industrial speakers. The themes addressed, whether in human or animal health, illustrated great innovations but also allowed to understand the economic difficulties linked to the development of new anti-infective agents. This event showed that therapeutic innovation in human and animal health is marked by a wide variety of strategies.
To conclude these 2 days of fruitful and stimulating exchanges, an interactive survey allowed defining the actions to prioritize: (i) setting up different working groups, (ii) giving access to the directory created by AntibioDEAL and (iii) consult the community to identify the obstacles encountered during the development of new anti-infective agents. The AntibioDEAL Steering Committee is working on this. The next AntibioDEAL days are scheduled for April 4 and 5, 2024 in Paris.
