Le Graie (research group, technical animation and information on water) is organizing the 8th Water & Health conference on November 14 and 15, 2023 in the city of Villeurbanne. This event aims to provide a framework conducive to the sharing of knowledge, issues and inspiring initiatives in order to promote the emergence of research perspectives, actions and common strategies, around a systemic “One Health” approach.
This year, the main theme focuses on micropollutants linked to healthcare practices and antibiotic resistance: characterization, impact and reduction. Indeed, as the event website indicates, “the contamination of environments by micropollutants resulting from our care practices is accompanied by a global phenomenon of deployment of bacterial resistance which has an impact on the environment and pose a risk to human health. Acting and combating these effects requires the characterization and understanding of the mechanisms involved as well as the mobilization of all water and human and animal health stakeholders, researchers, institutions and practitioners.”
It is in this context that PROMISE is a partner of this meeting. Several members of the meta-network are speaking during the 3 sessions scheduled from Tuesday to Wednesday:
- Characterize: exposome and impact of care practices on our environment and our health
- Characterize: return to the ground
- Reduce: the levers for the fight against environmental contamination and the dissemination of antibiotic resistance
Also note that a workshop is offered on Wednesday by members of the PROMISE meta-network on the theme “Co-constructing an integrated resistance research observatory”.
