50 participants gathered for a successful PROMISE 2026 General Assembly

The PROMISE 2026 General Assembly took place on Wednesday 1 July and Thursday 2 July. The event was held at the Reynou Zoological Park, near Limoges. This gathering enabled the members of the meta-network to come together to take stock of work in progress or recently completed, to exchange views and to discuss future prospects. It was also an opportunity for the various thematic working groups to take part in themed workshops within the park.

It should be noted that during this General Meeting, a vote was held which enabled the French Society for Hospital Hygiene (SF2H) to join the meta-network as a new member

The first day was divided into several sessions, followed by an afternoon of workshops:

  • Introduction
  • Overview of activities
    • Session 1 – From preclinical to clinical research (AntibioDEAL, Clinical Research Working Group)
    • Session 2 – Antibiotic resistance surveillance and data utilisation (Data Warehouse Working Group, Surveillance Working Group, AMR-Env)
    • Session 3 – Training and awareness-raising (Training Working Group and Communication and Awareness-raising Working Group)
  • Parallel activities
    • Discussions and exchanges (Advisory Committee)
    • BEH session (Surveillance Working Group)
  • Workshops with zoo veterinarians:
    • Feeding workshop: exploring how zoos manage nutrition and the importance of balanced diets for animal welfare
    • Enrichment workshop: exploring one of the tasks of an animal keeper and its contribution to animal welfare
    • Veterinary workshop: exploring the role of a zoo veterinarian
    • Medical training workshop: exploring the importance and challenges of medical training in zoos

On the morning of the second day, discussions continued:

  • Feedback from the Advisory Committee
  • Group discussion: promoting the work of the PROMISE meta-network
  • Conclusion

The event was a success: it brought together more than 30 participants in person and nearly 20 participants joining remotely throughout the day. Through a mix of presentations, question-and-answer sessions and various workshops, members of the PROMISE community were able to discuss in person the work carried out and the future prospects of the project.
